ABSTRACT
The mission of Montana Shakespeare in the Parks (MSIP) is to make quality, live theatrical productions of Shakespeare and other classics accessible to communities in Montana and surrounding states with an emphasis on underserved, rural areas that would not otherwise have given the opportunity. Tom Watson first job in theatre is difficult to pinpoint because his own process of paying dues and getting opportunities in academic theatre was a lengthy path of climbing the career ladder. Tom, at times, does a variety of jobs in the theatre, scene design, scenic art, technical direction, lighting design, and makeup. As a theatre professional working in a film department, Tom has found ways to combine both his interests. Tom discovered that solutions such as filling the base with plaster to secure the base of the plant into the urn works well. As the resident scenic designer and artist for MSIP, Tom has always been loyal to the concept of collaborative art.
