ABSTRACT

How do we keep our performer up in the air with this fancy machinery and equipment we’ve designed and built? This chapter goes through the various common performer flying harnesses today. The correct fit and use for each harness is explained in detail with pictures illustrating the precise fit you should be going for. Inspection processes for these, and any, harnesses are gone over, highlighting the main categories of concerns to inspect. Working with costumers to hide our beautiful harnesses is also discussed with some common pitfalls to attempt to avoid. Various popular circus elements are then discussed, among them straps, cerceau or lyra, and tissue. Common inspection points and concerns for each element are addressed.
