ABSTRACT

The chapter goes over the critical steps to administrate a performer flying effect successfully. Documentation is key here. Training in the entertainment industry tends to be through an oral tradition instead of from reading carefully maintained documents. While the former certainly has its merits, it does not excuse us from also having all our tribal knowledge written down for future users. The idea of functional paperwork is introduced, suggesting that all paperwork generated should be made with the end user in mind. Inspection sheets are discussed with this concept in mind while also pointing out features that should be included in any kind of inspection document. As-builts are also touched on as a great way to avoid making the same mistakes in the future when referring to this design. Lastly, exit information is discussed as the control or automation mirror to our mechanical as-builts.
