ABSTRACT

There are many ways to bring an automated performer flying system to a stop. In this chapter the various “flavors” of stops are discussed. Category 0, Category 1, and Category 2 stops are dissected to reveal their origins to the reader, while the text also discusses the pros and cons of each. Building on what we learned in the previous chapter, these flavors of stops are also discussed through the lens of their effect on stopping distance and therefore forces imparted on the performer and the building. Graphs from TAIT’s Navigator automation software platform are used to help us understand the relationship between the stopping mode enacted and the physical outcome on the end of the line.
