ABSTRACT

There are many real life stories where film casting completely changed because of an actor. Actors can walk into an audition and change minds about race, gender and sometimes even age for a role. Actors can walk into an audition and change the dialogue as well. One of the most difficult things to do as an actor is to just walk into an audition room and be yourself in control. Marks are the marks taped on the floor used in filmed media and are important to ‘hit’, whether in an audition or in filming. Slating is not only something actors do and say to the camera before they read their audition text, it is another part of their complete audition. Most actors have no idea that a person they either ignore or treat very badly may be the person who controls their fate. Film has one other difference from stage and that is another language issue.
