ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines the Communist International’s efforts to promote colonial liberation and counteract the oppression of colonized peoples. It details the main theoretical implications of communism’s approach and details how its tactics developed and its influences. It also details the role of front organizations, such as the League Against Imperialism and how they fit into the efforts of the Comintern in the interwar period. Other topics include the role Eurocentrism played in limiting the effectiveness of the Comintern’s efforts in support of colonial liberation and anti-imperialism.
