ABSTRACT

The editing course has been identified as a “core course” in both undergraduate and graduate degree programs (Melonçon, 2009; Melonçon & Henschel, 2013). This chapter provides data-driven information on the current state of the undergraduate and graduate editing course, using data from a longitudinal study of technical and professional communication (TPC) programs to analyze how the editing course fits within the program. This chapter overviews data from 600+ degree programs and provide a comprehensive summary of what the course is by providing a percentage of programs that require and offer an editing course along with an overview of the course descriptions and outcomes.
