ABSTRACT

Phytohormones are involved in a variety of physiological processes, including cellular differentiation, cell division, morphogenesis, and stress responses. Although these functions have been characterized mainly in terrestrial plants, phytohormones are known to be present in seaweeds. We recently developed a method for comprehensive analysis of phytohormones in marine red seaweeds but found it difficult to quantify indole-3-acetic acid because of the unsuitability of the internal standards employed in similar experiments with terrestrial plants. Here, we describe our latest version of the method for comprehensive phytohormone analysis in red seaweeds.
