ABSTRACT

Seaweed is a well-known source of phenolic compounds, which are considered as one of the important classes of natural antioxidants. This chapter describes the quick analysis methods, modified and adapted for seaweeds, for the determination of the total phenolic content and the antioxidant capacity. These quick methods are useful for monitoring, screening, and designing/optimizing the cultivation and harvesting of suitable seaweed, especially for the extraction of phenolic compounds.
