ABSTRACT

Shakespeare’s choices about whether to write lines in prose or verse, and whether that verse is regular or irregular iambic pentameter, hold clues about characters’ emotions and motivations. Actors need to recognize variations from regular iambic pentameter, and draw inspiration from those.
