ABSTRACT
This passage is set within a longer catalogue of Jesus’s sayings and reflects a slightly more radical stance on traditional and biblical warnings against wealth. The notion of a “treasury in heaven” (cf. Luke 12:33–34) is contrasted with human wealth and the latter is found far wanting. Worry about one’s spiritual life, Jesus argues, and God will provide the rest (see also Luke 12:22–31).
