ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book focuses on key CBMP features which shape the way that many producers—at least 2.5 million active Splice users—create records. It aims to move past the post hoc analysis of available records, which has been the dominant paradigm for discussing record creation. The book provides readers with a general digital taxonomy of CBMP audio samples and synthesizer presets. It explains how these samples are used to create music, examines how these samples and synthesizer presets are altered to fit together within a mix composite, and discusses the perceptual impacts of these so-called mixing techniques. There is certainly nothing wrong with such analyses, and, on occasion, the book also provides some similar post hoc analyses of available records as evidence for the popularity of the studio techniques.
