ABSTRACT

Dream Sociometry is a transpersonal methodology because it is not centered on any definition of self whatsoever. It is not centered on ego, an altruistic, compassionate self, on soul, Self, or Atman. It is not centered on a definition of self as one with all. It is not psychologically geocentric but rather polycentric, or multi-perspectival. Every point and every perspective interviewed or capable of being interviewed is, without exception, the center of experience. This does not fit nicely into any of the four traditional definitions of the transpersonal, oneness with nature, deity, formlessness, or the non-dual because these all deal with degrees of selflessness and varieties of oneness. Dream Sociometry and IDL both assumes and generates selflessness and varieties of oneness equally within prepersonal, personal, and transpersonal contexts.
