ABSTRACT

Nail(s) may get involved in various dermatological disorders. Rarely, the nail affection may be the sole manifestation of a dermatological condition. Certain nail changes are specific and are of diagnostic value as recognition of these nail changes allows a clinical diagnosis based on nail examination alone. The convenience with which nails can be examined makes it an important diagnostic tool. Other nail changes, though not so specific, contribute to morbidity and, hence, warrant treatment. This chapter discusses the nail findings in various dermatological diseases and intends to equip the clinicians better in their understanding of the same.
