ABSTRACT

Nail degloving refers to partial or total avulsion of the nail and surrounding tissue (perionychium). Typically, it appears as a thimble-shaped nail shedding or a partial or total loss of the nail organ with soft tissue. The etiology of nail degloving encompasses four main types: 1. traumatic injuries, 2. iatrogenic causes, 3. gangrenous conditions, and 4. dermatological causes. This chapter summarizes the various aspects of this newly described condition.
