ABSTRACT

Entrepreneurship is a priority for the sports industry as its popularity relies on change. Moreover, the sports industry has flow-on effects to other sectors such as the education, entertainment and tourism industries that build on entrepreneurial endeavors. This chapter focuses on value creation by examining how sport entities deal with social issues such as vulnerability. The aim of this chapter is to contribute to the understanding of sport policy from an entrepreneurship perspective by focusing on topics such as organizational fitness and fundraising. This will help inform practitioners, policymakers and scholars about the use of entrepreneurship in sport policy. Promoting entrepreneurship in sport is a priority for sport entities wanting to stay globally competitive. It is essential that sport policymakers utilize entrepreneurship to establish a more creative agenda for solving social problems.
