ABSTRACT

The role of gender in entrepreneurship has been a growing area of interest for many researchers and practitioners. In social entrepreneurship, as in other forms of entrepreneurship, there can be gender differences. Thus, it is useful in the sport context to see if males or females behave the same way towards social ventures. This chapter addresses the lack of research on gender and social entrepreneurship in sport by expanding our knowledge about the nature of social entrepreneurship and considering gender effects. Women have made a considerable contribution to sport activity and the role of females in sport has evolved. Thus, it is important to understand whether gender has an effect on the social entrepreneurship intentions of sports organizations.
