It discusses using punctuation and paragraphing to most accurately render speech, choosing and following a style guide, and deciding when to include nonverbal utterances. It explains timecoding transcripts, fact checking and how to verify proper nouns. Depending on the project, the transcriptionist might need to type verbatim or lightly edit for false starts and crutch words. This chapter mentions some common problems the transcriptionist may encounter and how to handle them. It presents ways to manage and store files and how to keep track of transcription when working on multiple projects.
