ABSTRACT

El Nasr Automotive Company (NASCO) is organized into several sectors, each sector having a number of divisions. NASCO has a vital role in the establishment of local industries, both through its feeder industry department and in other joint projects, and there is a continuous effort to exploit any available potential to increase domestic content in the products. This mission has a direct impact on the computerization process of the company, since the goal to increase local content also applies to its own production, where parts of production increase relative to assembly. Egyptian industry is characterized by state regulation of the market and a large share of public enterprises. In the study of Egyptian public enterprises from a management point of view, Badran and Hinings found that the locus of authority is largely outside the organization's own structure and that Egyptian public enterprises therefore exhibit lack of autonomy as well as a natural centralization of authority within the company.
