ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book, This Ability, focuses on the goal of disability equality, and the importance of the law and legislation to combat discrimination. It aims to better understand the issue of inequality and to improve the likelihood of achieving disability equality in the future and ending disability inequality. The book introduces the reader to the core area of disability inequality. It covers disability inequality in human relations around the world. The book looks at the United Nations. It examines disability inequality in Australia and New Zealand, and Africa and South Africa; in Canada, Mexico and the United States, and the North American situation with the North American Free Trade Agreement regarding disability inequality. The book also examines disability inequality in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and the European situation with the European Union Treaty regarding disability inequality. It concludes this overview of disability inequality.
