ABSTRACT

During the 1980s and the early 1990s there was a radical re-organization of education in Kenya. In the new system eight years of primary education replaced the previous seven years. New curricula were developed in all subjects and in Christian Religious Education in schools considerable attention is now given to topics related to science and technology. In particular, the creation stories in Genesis and the evolutionary account of origins are introduced together with creation stories in African cultures in standard seven of the primary school, and subsequently they are studied in more detail.
