ABSTRACT

Globalization has ushered in societal, political, and cultural changes of great magnitude and its impact is becoming increasingly obvious. As the effects of globalization become more extensive, the activities of public servants are becoming more diverse and complex, and there have been radical changes in the nature, approach, methods and implications of public service training. Public service training in central institutes serves as a useful basis for analysis because these organizations set the public service agenda for a country. One of the most effective means is an effective system of training and development of public employees. Training is a course of action that results in developing skills, behavior, awareness, understanding and ability in human resources, which helps in increasing the effectiveness of employees to work in their present government positions and prepares them for the prospective government. The chapter also presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in this book.
