ABSTRACT

The CEE environment has changed significantly since the early 1990s. The EU enlargement is only one of numerous processes that have had a significant impact on individuals and organizations in the region. However, organizations (via managers) might not systematically analyze all the relevant influences coming from the complex environment. One of the popular classifications suggests seven groups of relevant factors: technology, government, economics, culture, demographics, general external analysis questions and scenarios (Aaker, 2001). Although such a sophisticated approach might prove very useful, it could be more convenient for an organization to 'condense' those groups into four inevitable generic elements. These include political environment; economic environment, consisting of all the active enterprises, governmental and international bodies that may affect the economic life of a nation; all the other social arrangements and/or relevant developments that do not belong to the previous two components; and trends in technology relevant for the organization.
