ABSTRACT

In providing their products and services, organisations or networks offer all kinds of value to the customer. Depending on the customer's appreciation of these values, the organisation or network will be more or less successful. The value adding for both customer and organisation/network is at the core of the typology. The typology consists of three types of business models, each of which represents a dominant value of the organisation to the customer, and a value of the customer to the organisation. The three types of business models are Chameleon model, innovator and Foyer model. The Innovator differs from the traditional innovative organisation, where inventions were made by 'Gyro Gearloose's' in their own garages, or in isolated Research & Development laboratories. VTT gives much attention to customer focus and cooperation with other innovators, as part of the organisation's efforts to improve the global competitiveness of its customers by creating and applying new technology.
