ABSTRACT

The concept of air pollution has to do with human activities or the things that humans add to the air. Human-generated air pollution sources can be divided into two namely, mobile and stationary sources. Mobile sources are automobiles, buses, trains, airplanes and other fosil fuel-power modes of transportation and stationary sources include factories, incinerators and other kinds of nonmobile sources. Mobile sources tend to be much more plentiful and much more widely dispersed than stationary sources and are therefore more difficult to monitor. The effects of pollutants vary considerably because of differences in their concentrations and chemistry. The issue of control has become necessary due to the health problems associated with air pollution. Methods of controlling air pollution include removing the hazardous material before it is used, removing the pollutant after it is formed, or altering the process so that the pollutant is not formed or occurs only at very low levels.
