ABSTRACT

Architectural design concept has basis from several stimuli, namely: socio-economic, historical, current practice and its objective definition. Fine designs develop out of an intimate understanding of form possibilities, attained by constantly reframed probe, considering the several factors, with which the design functions must be addressed. Site design deals with basic components namely: the activity patterns, movement arteries and the character supporting them. Orientation of the building to take advantage of the natural free flow of air is possible and depends largely on climate. Solar energy-oriented plan was conceived on a city-wide scale, by the French architect, Tony Ganier, between 1901-1917. An associated environmental-design problem is emission of gaseous pollutants from industrial structures and the resultant concentrations at street level. Among the many challenges to the design process is threat by such unguarded activities, as the release of gaseous chemicals into the building environment.
