ABSTRACT

The analytical reference points are of great importance for the arrangement of the study and the interpretation of the empirical results. The theory of industrial relations, the change of the production model through globalization and utilization of new techniques, the process of Europeanization and the path (in)dependence of national models are essential references. As a theoretical guide for the presentation and the analysis of the circumstances relevant to industrial relations, the chapter proposes an expanded, actor-related institutional approach, an integration of historical and control-theoretic institutionalism with action-theoretic concepts. The historic-genetic analysis refers to the evolutionary character of industrial relations, which have been created in the various countries under specific power relationships in the different national systems. An essential basis for industrial relations in the European countries existed in their respective national boundary. The type of market economy and capitalism that nations rely on is very decisive for the development of industrial relations in the Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC).
