ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the most successful among corporate learning organizations. It identifies three trends that look set to shape future developments in this era of new opportunities and raised expectations. The chapter draws on two things: first, authors’ experiences consulting with major clients and providing outsourced learning services to them; second, on several Accenture research initiatives. That learning executives face a combination of opportunity and challenge comes through again and again in this work. About 10 percent of the learning departments or learning organizations studied in the Accenture Learning research have enabled their companies to 'multiply their talent' and achieve measurably higher levels of performance. A number of companies today are truly pioneers when it comes to measuring the business impact of learning. Striking differences in measuring and communicating the business impact of learning can be seen when we compare high-performance learning organizations with the rest of the pack.
