ABSTRACT

In a global context, successive regimes have tried to address and root out the evil of terrorism. Terror is a condition or state of mind induced by the power of the unknown, unknowable, or unpredictable acts of nature or of man. Terrorism disturbs emotionally and morally and intellectually. Domestic terrorism is probably a more widespread phenomenon than international terrorism. Domestic terrorism involved right-wing, left-wing, anti-government, pro-government, anti-tax, paramilitary, anti-abortion, anti-religious, antiethnic, and militia groups. International terrorism involving citizens or the territory of more than one country. There are several anti-terrorist conventions that are regionally based: the Organization of American States, the Council of Europe, and the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, the Arab League and the Islamic Conference. A typical Al Qaeda terrorist is young, radical, and a member of the Shia Muslim sect. The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine is known to support Al Gama and al Qaeda with recruits and weapons in exchange for training.
