ABSTRACT

Globalization may logically imply that the friction of distance has decreased. It paves the way for the erasure of space, thereby facilitating communication and exchange of goods and ideas. Globalization focuses on the basic issues and problems common to all people. But still research in development geography is divided into research dealing with issues of the North and that dealing with the South. The global modernization strategy assumes that progress and prosperity are best brought to the world and its people and places through continued modernization and an industrialized type of production rationality on a global scale. The research papers published by the group noted that many people choose to live in what in terms of so-called objective criteria could be termed marginal areas. As marginality includes an aspect of lower position, an important factor in research on marginality is to find ways of achieving a better situation and of eliminating the causes behind the classification.
