ABSTRACT

This chapter explores Five Offshore Wind Farms, namely, North Hoyle, Kentish Flats, Robin Rigg, Scarweather Sands and Scroby Sands. North Hoyle offshore wind farm is located off the North Wales coast, between the resort towns of Rhyl and Prestatyn. It is located in shallow waters, about 7—8 km from the shoreline. Kentish Flats offshore wind farm is located off the north coast of Kent, southeast England. It is located in shallow waters, about 8—9 km from the coastal towns of Whitstable and Herne Bay. Consent has been granted for Robin Rigg offshore wind farm but it has not yet been built. It is due to be constructed off the southwest coast of Scotland on a sand bank in the Solway Firth, which is a large estuary opening into the Irish Sea. Scroby Sands offshore wind farm is located off the coast of the town of Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, eastern England.
