ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a number of different concepts and theories intended to make we think about how this will impact our own organization. Alongside this it has also offered straightforward, practical steps and exercises that can be taken to move our organization to be age-inclusive. The world is changing and will continue to do so. The population worldwide is ageing and governments have responded by introducing the Age Discrimination Regulations. This directly affects the UK from October 2006. Businesses need to be aware of these changes and actively respond to this situation if they wish to continue to have a competitive edge. It is important to remember that the older person is no better or worse than any other. However, it is true to say that up until the older person has been marginalized both in the workplace and in society and so our aim is to re-address this balance.
