Simulation of complex organizational processes: a review of methods and their epistemological foundations

This chapter reviews the literature on methodologies for the simulation of complex social behaviour and evaluates the ways in which they have been used in recent research in archaeology, economics, psychology and sociology. Special attention is paid to the theoretical framework appropriate to the methodology, and to the epistemological assumptions underlying the research strategy.
