ABSTRACT

This chapter elucidates key themes from this text, drawing not only on the anchor texts and keyword responses but also on the process of curriculum inquiry used throughout the text. Argued throughout this chapter is that the heart of this text does not lie in the essential concepts explored in the anchor texts and keyword responses, as these will change with time. At the heart of this work is the way in which authors have considered curricular concepts—their methods of inquiry and representation. The fundamental contribution of this text then is the generative process, the interpretive work, of keyword responses as a model for curriculum theorizing. In reflecting on this model, four fundamental principles are proposed that shape curriculum theorizing: (a) establishing relationships, (b) identifying positionality, (c) constructing discourse, and (d) cultivating community.
