ABSTRACT
This excursus analyses the poetic text written by Charles Wesley as a eulogy on the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Blackwell. The phenomenon of the deathbed testimony is evident in this poem and Blackwell’s ‘good death’ is manifest here, as are characteristics of sanctification, displayed both in her living and dying. This poem is a model for believers of how Christians should live and die.
