ABSTRACT

It is one of the world’s third major crops, after rice and wheat. It is a warm season grass that is being used for diverse purposes globally, for example, for human food, ethanol production, biogas, green fodder, feed for livestock, and raw material for producing bioplastics. The green fodder of this crop is widely acceptable by dairy farmers because of its higher digestibility than sorghum, bajra, and other nonleguminous forage crops.
