ABSTRACT
The aim of this chapter is to deliberate the social and political responsibility of a Christian academic theologian in a postcolonial situation. Jesse Mugambi’s life and work will be used both as an impetus for this quest but also as the scene in which variations of the theme are played out. Drawing from Mugambi’s publications and critical dialogues with him this chapter will highlight the social responsibility of a theologian in the African context.
