ABSTRACT
This chapter reports on a project to design a land use plan incorporating biodiversity conservation and plantation development, among other factors, in a remote area of Indonesian New Guinea. It analyzes the successes and failures of the project to document how structural power relations play a determinative role in the fate of environmental projects.
