ABSTRACT

As the introduction to this work, Chapter 1 lays out some of the main goals of this book as well as situating it in the current IR literature. It details a need to adapt current IR approaches to go beyond the state, specifically by examining the interaction of the local and international levels. In our case, this will be achieved by investigating the perceptions of minority youth regarding citizenship and intercultural dialogue. In doing so, we will see that minority youth interact regularly with the international and transnational space, drawing us to reconceptualise these concepts by looking at questions of belonging and value.
