ABSTRACT

The final empirical chapter explores the relationship of young people with citizenship and intercultural dialogue in the context of education. They indicate how the school acts to reflect their local neighbourhood. They also express the ways that citizenship and culture are incorporated into their classes. Finally, the chapter discusses the role of teachers in the space of education. Across the board, we will see that the school is a microcosm of these spaces but also a location of contestation on the part of pupils and parents.
