ABSTRACT
The infinitive form of the verb is the form given as a dictionary headword (see Unit 4). Preceded by att, the infinitive is used as if it were a noun phrase. Used in this way, the Swedish infinitive frequently corresponds to an ‘–ing’ form of the verb in English.
