ABSTRACT
Although the use of Swedish prepositions of place corresponding to ‘on’ and ‘in’ is often idiomatic, a useful rule of thumb is to remember:

klockan på väggen mössen i väggen
the clock on the wall the mice in the wall
en båt på havet fiskarna i havet
a boat on the sea the fish in the sea
en bild på nätet ett fel i datorn
