ABSTRACT

Teachers are not only responsible for facilitating student learning, but also for providing them with the analytical tools to understand, evaluate, and respond to the problems and issues around them. Whether creating a new simulation or using an existing one, a lot of time and resources are needed to provide all the materials required for the exercise and build an assessment rubric to ensure a quality learning experience for the students. Simulations are also assessment tools for the instructor. An important result of simulations is that they contribute to a sense of understanding of how well the students are learning and grasping the material. Simulations require a lot of work from the instructor who has to prepare simulation materials carefully to make sure that the instructional scenario is realistic and meets the learning objectives. The instructor needs to know the students to determine whether a particular simulation is appropriate for the particular classroom.
