ABSTRACT
In keeping with the Release-and-Flow version rules, once a job was released, Authorization Dates were not needed for subsequent operations. The difference with PROPOS, incorporating the Paired-cell Overlapping Loops of Cards with Authorization (POLCA) logic and operating rules, is that the shop floor performance is very reliable, and management can have confidence in meeting the due dates in the system. In early 2012, we started the development of Digital POLCA. When in the course of 2012 the Quick Response Manufacturing cells Brown and Yellow were merged and when, at the same time, new cells were created—things that happen in a dynamic company—it took some effort to recalculate and create the new cards for the new routes.
