ABSTRACT

Ward Kimball (1914–2002), originally from Minneapolis, was one of Walt Disney's great animation team, The Nine Old Men. He breathed life into characters like Jiminy Cricket, Pecos Bill, The Mad Hatter, Lucifer the cat, Bacchus in the Pastoral from Fantasia, and the pearly band in Mary Poppins. Ward directed two Oscar-winning shorts, Toot Whistle, Plunk and Boom and Its Tough to be a Bird.
