ABSTRACT

Chapter 3 raises pertinent moral questions around issues such as environmental justice. Why is it the polluter elite are more able to avoid the consequences of their pollution? Is it morally questionable to profit from pollution when it can have a fatal impact via air pollution and extreme weather events? The chapter questions the status of the polluter elite as wealth creators and proposes the pollution of the richest via their investments is recognised when discussing their vast fortunes. I propose new rich lists that transparently show when a rich individual has made their money from polluting activity. This would recognise the unequal ability to pollute and the specific role of the polluter elite in contributing to global warming.
