This chapter provides a history of the solar photovoltaic (PV) industry, emphasizing the growing importance of solar PV to the electric grid globally, and the need for system monitoring and verification. Also, it introduces the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners’ (NABCEP) new credential for PV system inspectors.
