ABSTRACT

Values govern the behavior of individuals in an organization, and the collective workforce, thereby defining a culture driven to realize the purpose. The behaviors of the business in the marketplace must also be values-led. Organizations must be intentional in establishing, embedding, and enacting the values, and then they can express those values to the world. If values are to shape a productive culture, they must induce positive behaviors. The very point of values is for them to guide behavior in the spur of the many moments that happen every day in which decisions are taken, until those behaviors become instinctive. For stakeholders to experience the values all of the time, they need to be integrated into all facets of the organization, across every process, policy, and practice. Stories that highlight the values in action were told in routine project meetings, bi-weekly company-wide gatherings, and quarterly financial updates.
