ABSTRACT

The rolling process is investigated as a combination of two processes, carried out by the rolling rolls: the transfer movement of the strip in the gap between the rolls and the process of deformation of metal in the gap between the rolls. The main assumption is the assumption of the constancy of stresses and strains along the height and width of the sheet in any vertical section of the deformation zone and ignorance of the inertia force. In a number of works the contact stresses in the elastic regions of the deformation zone are finally determined by the geometrical method after calculating the contact stresses in the plastic region of the deformation zone. The characteristic feature of these curves is the convex form of the curve at exit from the deformation zone, and the concave form at entry.
