ABSTRACT

The soft-packed power battery is becoming a promising power source because of its high energy density and light weight. The duration of sealing has a significant impact on the service life of the soft-packed battery. However, currently there is no effective test method or theoretical models to evaluate its sealing life. In this paper, an Accelerated Degradation Test (ADT) is designed and performed to investigate the sealing strength degradation. The testing is conducted to measure the degradation rates and residual tearing strengths of the standard specimens under the different accelerated stresses. Based on the testing data and membrane theory, a modified Cohesion Zone Model (CZM) is proposed to describe the tearing curve and strength degradation. This model is validated by the testing data well.
